I want to wish all our Starling’s players and coaches a very Happy Thanksgiving.

This year I am very thankful for our new coaches - Megan, Chris and Gary.  We are very lucky to have these three new dedicated coaches.  (Note:  They are not new coaches, they are just new to the Ridgecrest Starlings.)

I am thankful for the 29 young athletes who want to be Ridgecrest Starlings Volleyball Players.  That number is almost twice as many as I expected.  I am especially thankful for the 10 young ladies that will be playing on our 13s team with Mrs. Stokes.  Those young ladies will be the backbone and the future of our volleyball club.  A lot of folks spend a lot of attention on the older teams.   They have it wrong.  The younger teams are where the action is at.  They are always the teams that really know how to have a good time on the court.

Finally I am very thankful for the parents, grandparents, and family of all of our players and staff.  Without your support and help this volleyball club wouldn’t happen.

I just want to welcome all my new U14 players for the upcoming season.

I am very excited about the upcoming season.  The short practice we had this evening showed me that we are off to a pretty good start.  I hope you are all as ready to get down to work as I am.

Ladies, we have practice on Thursday with the 16s at castle-X from 6 to 8 PM.  Then an optional practice on Saturday Nov. 22 from 9 AM to Noon at Castle-X.  Those of you who will be out of town for Thanksgiving have a great holiday and we will see you when you get home.

On Tuesday Nov 25th we will have an Open Volleyball night for any register Starlings player who wants to come play volleyball from 6 to 8 PM at Castle-X.

The Ridgecrest Starlings U13s team has been set.  All the players were sent home with paperwork last night.

The registration papers and first payment is due at their next practice, which will occur after Thanksgiving.  We will call all the players and let them know when their first practice will be.

We are delaying their start to the season for couple weeks because their coach is on vacation with her husband who has two weeks off from his deployment in Iraq.  I believe that these young athletes should start their season with their coach.

The paperwork that was sent home and will be required is:

• USA Volleyball Waiver (two sides)
• Medical History
• Player Information Sheet

Welcome to the start of the 2009 Ridgecrest Starlings Volleyball Season.

We have been holding tryouts for the last week.  We have three coaches, and 28 young athletes right now.  If I can nail down facilities we will have three teams.
